The Saver 2000 plan is UniCare's lowest priced traditional PPO health insurance plan -- priced lower than the $3000 deductible and $5000 deductible options. It's a
popular plan that UniCare has been offering for a long time.
We characterize the Saver 2000 plan as basic hospital and surgical coverage with a few add-ons.
Reduced "Non-Core" Coverage
UniCare can price the Saver 2000 lower because the plan provides limited coverage for various "non-core" health care services covered by the other UniCare plans.
Under the SAVER 2000 plan, you could be assuming meaningful liability if you experience a serious illness requiring large expenditures for services such as prescriptions, outpatient x-ray/lab or durable medical equipment.
A Good Value - with Tradeoffs

Saver 2000 Benefit Reductions
Following are primary benefit differences between the SAVER $2000 plan and UniCare's "regular" $2000 deductible plan. This comparison is focused on "per person" benefits for services from PPO

Office Visits
UniCare 2000
$30 co-pay applies to up to four office visits per person per year.
Saver 2000
Covers only two office visits per year (PPO and non-PPO combined). $30 co-pay applies to PPO office visits.
Immunizations for Babies and Children
UniCare 2000
Covered up to $200 per year.
Outpatient Lab Work and X-rays
UniCare 2000
Subject to the $2000 deductible, then covered at 70%.
Saver 2000
Deductible not applicable, but benefits capped at $300 per year.
Professional Services (surgery, anesthesia, radiation therapy, in-hospital doctor visits, diagnostic x-ray and lab)

Subject to the $2000 deductible, then covered at 70%. Coverage is for both in-patient and out-patient services.
