Traditional PPO Overview - Illinois

With VERY competitive rates and extensive PPO networks, the UniCare FIT plans provide an outstanding combination of comprehensive protection and benefits for the most frequent health care expenses, such as office visits and prescription drugs.

FIT Plans - Benefits for Frequent Services

Each of the FIT plans provides a $30 co-pay benefit for an unlimited number of office visits.  However, the prescription benefits are what make these plans really stand out.

FIT Plans - Outstanding Rx Benefits

All the FIT plans provide a $10 co-pay generic drug benefit.  A distinct calendar year deductible applies for brand name drugs.

For the FIT 500 and FIT 1000 plans, the brand name deductible is $250.  For the other FIT plans, the brand name drug deductible is $500.

Upon satisfaction of the brand name prescription deductible, brand name drugs can be purchased subject to either a $30 co-pay (formulary) or a $50 co-pay (non-formulary).

FIT Plans - Comprehensive Protection
Comprehensive major medical benefits are subject to a calendar year deductible.  The choices are:

All these deductible options include the excellent office visit and prescription drug benefits previously described.

About the SAVER 2000 Plan

UniCare's SAVER 2000 plan is a popular product that UniCare has been marketing since they entered the Midwest market.  It has been well received mostly because of its low price.

The SAVER 2000 is distinguished from many other inexpensive health plans because it provides limited co-pay benefits (not subject to the $2000 deductible) for office visits and prescriptions.

However, the low-priced UniCare SAVER 2000 plan has certain benefit limits and exclusions that do not apply to any of the other UniCare plans.  Of these, the benefit caps on prescriptions and x-ray/lab may be the most meaningful.

No Durational Rating

Most health insurers charge lower rates for new customers and higher rates for their longer-term customers.  This is known as durational rating, and UniCare doesn't do it.

In determining rate adjustments, UniCare makes no distinctions based on how long a policy has been in effect.  This translates into superior long-term relative cost stability for UniCare clients.

Outstanding PPO Networks

UniCare Illinois customers can utilize providers in the UniCare Classic Network or in the HealthLink network (mostly downstate providers), both of which are owned by UniCare.  UniCare also offers an extensive national network of providers, made more accessible through UniCare's Travel Access Program.

Not only do UniCare HSA-compatible plan customers get an extensive choice of PPO providers, they also pay less for health care services.  This is a result of the extensive discounts negotiated with participating physicians and hospitals.
