Proponent of HSAs

Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) aren't for everybody, but, from my perspective, they make sense for ALMOST everybody.

Can there be any doubt that health care pricing has been warped by insurance benefits that insulate consumers from the cost consequences of their health care decisions?  For some insight, consider the cost of laser eye surgery.

In 1998 the normal cost of laser surgery was about $2200 per eye.  Now it's close to $1350.  It's no coincidence that this procedure is rarely covered by health insurance.  Laser eye surgery is one of few health procedures sold in a free market with price advertising and consumer-driven purchases.

Free markets aren't effective unless informed consumers have a financial stake in their decisions.  That's what Consumer Directed Health Care (CDHC) is about.  Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) and Health Reimbursement Accounts (HRAs) empower the health care consumer.

I've seen consumer-driven plans in action.  The employer saves money, and the vast majority of employees experience a net financial improvement.  Often the most difficult part of switching to a CDHC plan is overcoming employee skepticism.  A little education can help, and I can assist with that.

Traditional Health Insurance Plans

On the other hand, high deductible CDHC plans may not fit with your organization's current circumstance.  Some employers simply need to provide the most generous benefits at the most reasonable price.  I can handle that for you too.

Quality Paperwork is Key

Too many insurance brokers place a low priority on group health insurance paperwork, relying on the insurance company staffs to reconcile inconsistencies.  That's not wise.

I focus on the details, anticipating potential administrative problems and avoiding bureaucratic glitches -- helping my clients achieve:

Accurate upfront paperwork is KEY.  When there are problems in the initial plan setup, the mistakes tend to linger.  Better to avoid them in the first place.
